Founded in 1999, El Remanso Lodge is also a beloved family business, now in its second generation. El Remanso Lodge is our passion – our heart and soul.

And when we say “our,” we mean “all of our.” Because El Remanso is a community. We are deeply involved in, and inextricably tied to, Puerto Jimenez and the Osa Peninsula. We are not only family-run but also locally sourced: Our team, our food, our guides – we’re are as local as the monkeys that freely roam our property.

Of what we do and who we are

There are many ways to define and interpret sustainability, especially where travel and tourism are concerned. But here, to us, sustainability means not only coexisting with our spectacular surrounds but protecting them and supporting our local community. Our small, boutique resort strives to give more than we take. We hire (and train) local talent. Our 14 units are built exclusively from fallen timber and certified plantation wood.
